The service pod was originally scheduled to dock with the space station on the day of the Antares' Venus Burn, but was retasked with delivering alternates Maddux Donner and Ted Shaw to the Antares when it was determined that Rollie Crane and Ajay Sharma could not fly due to their spontaneous development of heart murmurs. In violation of Michael Goss' orders to immediately dock with the Antares, Donner takes the service pod to convince Ajay to return to Earth. It was also used to return Rollie and Ajay to Earth.
